Global Game Jam 2014

The Global Game Jam (GGJ) is the world’s largest game jam event, a hackathon to develop games that takes place at different locations around the world. Teams worldwide are challenged to make games based on the same theme, a theme that is kept secret until the jam commences. For 2014 the fun begins at 5pm on Friday 24th January and ends on Sunday 26th in the afternoon when you will showcase your games to the rest of the group and we’ll have a prize for the winners!

Whether you are already a games developer or not, Game Jams welcome people from all sorts of backgrounds; artists, programmers, writers, game designers, musicians, sound engineers, project managers and producers, all can contribute. Games Jams are great fun, you will make new friends, increase your confidence and make a new game in just 48 hours!

2013 saw 3000 game created at 309 locations in 63 countries. Bristol Games Hub is hosts the Bristol leg of GGJ. It’s all about the collaboration, and there’s a great buzz knowing that thousands of developers around the world will be doing it too. You don’t have to be a professional, yet. Students are welcome too.

Bristol Games Hub hosted the GGJ2014 as it fitted with our stated ethos of openness, generosity and collaboration. We are a non-profit organisation and all profits raised were straight back into developing the space, supporting the Hub’s residents and the wider local games community in the South West.
